French B2B PayTech Hero Scores €12.4M

The Paris-based paytech startup Hero (website) has raised €12.4 million in a funding round led by Paua Ventures and Embedded/Capital alongside Rapyd Ventures. A host of fintech angels and operators are also joining in: Guillaume Princen (Stripe), Phillippe de Passorio (Adyen), Peter O’Higgins (Revolut), Steve Anavi (Qonto), Fabrice Grinda (FJ labs), Barbora Winczerva (Mubadala) and Perry Blacher (Augmentum), Josef Bovet (Tiller) and Joan Burkovic (Bankin’).

Founded in 2021 by Roland Jais Nielson, Hero provides full-stack payment solutions for B2B SMEs, offering solutions from liquidity to digital payments across all sales channels.

The Paris-based startup is specifically targeting B2B SMEs with its innovative product. The payments space continues to see a lot of innovation this year. From BNPL solutions to embedded financial solutions, the fintech sector seems to keep giving.

Roland explained, “Hero started as an intermediary for B2B transactions, taking on both counterparties’ financial and credit risk and helping them optimize their cash flows. We quickly realized that lowering transaction costs for SMEs meant better underwriting, centralising all distribution channels and payment methods, third-party integration, and end-to-end automation. We built Hero around this holistic vision.”
