The Frankfurt-based fintech company, Caiz Development GmbH, will be the main sponsor of the Euro sculpture by artist Ottmar Hörl on Willy-Brandt-Platz in Frankfurt. This was announced by the independent non-profit association Frankfurter Kultur Komitee e.V., to which the artist donated the sculpture.
An auction planned for mid-October is thus off the table. The association had previously announced that the funding from private sponsors was no longer sufficient to maintain the Euro symbol in a technically safe condition. The upkeep in the form of electricity costs for lighting and maintenance, but above all, the increasing vandalism in the last two years had used up all the association’s financial resources.
Because of the public discussion about the future of the EuroSculpture, Caiz Development decided to realize the necessary financing for the EuroSymbol to remain in Frankfurt. The company is a fintech developing a blockchain-based ecosystem for financial inclusion. The sponsorship covers the maintenance costs for the Euro-Sculpture for the next five years. The main sponsor will also organize events on topics that correspond to the statutory purpose of the Frankfurter Kultur Komitee e.V. association.
The City of Frankfurt am Main, the European Central Bank, and the Hessian Ministry of Finance will continue to be involved in the activities surrounding the euro symbol.
