Anne Boden (Twitter) is a UK tech entrepreneur and is best known as the founder and CEO of Starling Bank. She developed the neobank with the reclusive Austrian investor Harald McPike-Zima, who reportedly invested at least £133m in Starling Bank for nearly two-thirds of the shares. Anne is undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the UK fintech scene.
Anne started her career at Lloyds Bank, assisting architect CHAPS, the UK’s first real-time payments system. Boden worked at Standard Chartered and UBS before becoming Head of EMEA, Global Transaction Banking across 34 countries for RBS and ABN AMRO.
She launched Starling Bank in 2014 and developed it into one of the most important loan providers in the UK. In the Covid-19 pandemic, Starling Bank has increased its total business account pool to 470,000, which is 8% of the small business banking market in the UK.
