Chris Brummer (website) is a Georgetown University Law Center law professor and the Faculty Director of Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law. President Obama nominated him as a Commissioner on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), he did a 3-year term as a member of the National Adjudicatory Council of FINRA and is the Founder of Washington DC’s Fintech Week.
His work for FINRA was praised as making a significant contribution to advancing investor protection.
Chris Brummer is the author of several books, most recently Fintech Law in a Nutshell (2019) and Cryptoassets: Legal, Regulatory, and Monetary Perspectives and Fintech Law in a Nutshell.
Prior to joining Georgetown’s faculty with tenure in 2009, Chris has taught at several leading universities, including Vanderbilt Law, where he was an assistant professor, and the universities of Basel, Heidelberg, and the London School of Economics.
