Billion-dollar mobile operator Turkcell plans to bring its super app Paycell to Europe – and is counting on bank fintech Solaris as a partner. The Turkish fintech wants to manage its expansion from an office in Stuttgart. Paycell has 7 million clients. German neobanking pioneer N26 had to expand into 22 countries to reach that number.
The Berlin-based startup operates across Europe and has amassed seven million banking customers in 22 countries. A fintech from Turkey, largely unknown in Europe, has long since reached this number in its home country: Paycell.
Now the company is opening its first office abroad. Based in Stuttgart, a team is to drive expansion in Europe. Paycell sees itself as a super app offering various financial services. It got big with payment transactions.
Behind the fintech is one of Turkey’s largest mobile providers, Turkcell, which has also developed a browser and is valued at three billion dollars on the stock exchange.
