The former CEO Markus Braun denies allegations of fictitious transactions. In the Wirecard trial, Braun is accused of billion-dollar fraud.
In the German Wirecard trial, employees of the two major credit card companies, Visa and Mastercard, support the central accusation that there were sham transactions at the Dax group, which collapsed in 2020. The witnesses- one from Visa and Mastercard – testified in unison before the Munich Regional Court on Wednesday. Accordingly, they found no evidence during a review that Wirecard booked credit card purchases.
The testimony of the two witnesses is significant because former CEO Markus Braun denies the allegation of fictitious transactions. Instead, the Austrian manager accuses co-defendant former Wirecard manager – and key witness for the prosecution – Oliver Bellenhaus and his accomplices of embezzling money from genuine transactions.
