Wise: Share Price Went South After The CFO Departure!

It was one of the most highly valued startups in Europe. Wise, previously known as Transferwise, was listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2021. Now there are personnel changes. Shares in fintech company Wise fell almost ten percent this week after it was announced that CFO Matt Briers would step down next year.

Behind the startup Wise are well-known investors such as Peter Thiel‘s Valar Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz.

The company was founded in 2010 by two Estonian-born friends, Taavet Hinrikus and Kristo Kaarmann, who was annoyed by the high fees charged by banks for international money transfers from England to Estonia.

Briers will leave the company after eight years in which Wise has grown from a small forex trader to a publicly traded fintech company with millions of users.
